Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Meridiem app. By downloading or using Meridiem, you agree to them.

1. The app and who provides it

Meridiem is provided by Connall Milberry ("we", "us"). It is distributed through the Apple App Store and runs on iPhone and Apple Watch. Contact: support@meridiemsun.com.

2. Licence

Meridiem is licensed, not sold, to you. Subject to these Terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), we grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Meridiem on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules. Where these Terms and Apple's standard EULA differ, Apple's EULA governs the licence and these Terms cover everything else.

3. Purchases

Meridiem is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription and no account. Payments, refunds, and billing are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store under Apple's terms; we do not process payments or store any payment information. Refund requests are managed by Apple.

4. What Meridiem is — and is not

Meridiem estimates cumulative UV exposure by combining Apple Watch daylight data with the UV index for your location, measured against a personalised limit derived from your skin type. These are estimates. Real-world sunburn depends on many factors Meridiem cannot fully observe: clothing, shade, sunscreen application quality, reflective surfaces, individual variation, and sensor and forecast accuracy.

• Meridiem does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition, including skin cancer or sunburn.
• Do not rely on Meridiem as your only guide to sun safety. A quiet dial is not a substitute for sunscreen, cover, and shade.
• Vitamin D and other figures shown are informational estimates, not clinical measurements or medical advice.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, resell, or redistribute the app except as permitted by law or Apple's Usage Rules, and not to use it in any unlawful way.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

Meridiem is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that its estimates will be accurate for your circumstances. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any injury, loss, or damage (including sunburn, skin damage, or any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss) arising from your use of, or reliance on, Meridiem. Your use of the app is at your own risk. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Apple's role

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or handle any claims relating to the app. However, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and material changes may be noted in the app or its release notes. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
